Legal terms and conditions for booking our educational workshops
Thank you for booking your historical workshops with Horrid Historia. As a company we pride ourselves in offering a truly bespoke hands-on learning experience for your children. Our staff have over 30 years of experience bringing history to life for young people and we are very much looking forward to bringing our passion to your school. Please take a moment to read through these terms and conditions to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. As part of booking your workshops, you agree to abide by these terms.
- • Our minimum charge is equivalent to a half days' booking for a maximum of 35 students.
- • Our workshops have a maximum capacity of 35 students per Horrid Historia workshop leader. We may be able to accommodate for larger bookings on certain dates so please do ask.
- • We do not currently charge VAT which makes your booking with us more affordable.
- • During your workshops an employed member of school staff must always be present with your pupils.
- • Some of our workshops require a higher level of manual dexterity than others and some adult support for young people may be required. Please take this into consideration when booking activities to ensure that all of your young people can get the most out of the day. If you have any concerns or want to seek advice please get in touch before booking and we will be more than happy to discuss this with you.
- • We will invoice you after our visit.
- • Invoices will be sent to the details provided on your booking form. If you require a Purchase Order number on your invoice, please include it on your booking form or email it to us.
- • Please ensure that your finance team are aware of the payment terms detailed here.
- • Full payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date. In the event of an overdue payment, we will have to chase you for the payment and an administration fee of £30 will be added to the due amount to cover this cost.
- • Late payments will also incur a £50 surcharge.
- • Horrid Historia reserves the right to cancel bookings at any time. In such a situation, we will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible, and you will of course not be charged. We are not responsible for any third party costs that you may incur.
- • This booking is made on the understanding that you will offer places on the workshops to members of your school only, and not members of the wider public.
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel our visit to you the following fees will apply:
- ○ Cancellations made with more than 30 days' notice will incur no charge.
- ○ Cancellations made with between 15 and 30 days' notice will incur a charge of 25% of the visit cost.
- ○ Cancellations made with between 1 and 14 days' notice will incur a charge of 50% of the visit cost.
- ○ Cancellations made on the day of our visit will incur a charge of 100% of the visit cost.
- • All cancellations must be made in writing.
- • Cancellation fees may be reduced or waived if you reschedule our visit for another date, if enough notice is given.
Teachers and school staff are responsible for:
- ○ Supervising students at all times during our visit.
- ○ Ensuring appropriate adult supervision and support is available for your students to be able to access the workshops.
- ○ Providing first-aid cover for the duration of our visit.
- ○ Ensuring that we have access to the agreed areas and resources in order for the workshops to be delivered safely and effectively.
- • Your safety is our number one priority. All of our workshop activities have Risk Assessments which can be found on our website. It is important that you read these before our visit and if you have any concerns, please contact us straight away.
- • All of our activities will start with a safety briefing. Your staff will be responsible for ensuring that your students follow these guidelines and behave in a safety conscious manner. Our staff will cease any workshop activity if they feel it is unsafe to continue.
Your staff are responsible for making sure that students:
- ○ Understand the importance of hand washing and how to do it properly.
- ○ Are wearing appropriate clothing including suitable footwear.
- ○ Have any existing cuts etc covered with a waterproof dressing.
- ○ Do not touch or pick up any tools or equipment until permitted to do so by our staff.
- ○ Do not suck fingers or put hands, pens, pencils etc into their mouths.
We will:
- ○ Provide you with a range of engaging enquiry-led educational activities tailored to meet your curriculum needs.
- ○ Ensure that our activities are inclusive and safe for all of your students and where practical adapt any workshop to meet your specific needs.
- ○ Encourage your students to explore their own enquiry-based learning journey based on your curriculum needs and their interests.
- ○ Help your students discover practical solutions for overcoming their own barriers to learning within the context of our workshops.
- ○ Work with you to make your day as memorable as possible.
